Word Bearers
Color and paint schemes
The client wanted his army to not only command respect, but to tell a story when seen on the table.
The force is composed of a varied contingent: from the brutal Possessed to the elegant Havocs, passing through the Warpsmith, the Predator Destroyer, the feared Defiler or the lethal claws of the Warp Talons. In total, more than sixty miniatures that we have assembled entirely in the studio, taking care of both the poses and the integration with the environment of each base.
The color scheme chosen for this Word Bearers is an evolution of the one we already applied in a previous Kill Team, with intense reds, worn metals and purples that reflect corruption and power. To highlight that ancient and cursed character, we opted for bases with desert texture, eroded, stained with ash and with traces of unholy magic represented with bits and 3D printed elements.
The level of painting varied according to the function of each unit. The basic troops were worked at game level, solid and clean, while the key characters and units received an ornate treatment, with special emphasis on blood effects, color transitions and textured finishes on capes, tunics and armor.

Customer briefing
The voice of Chaos takes form
The client came to us after discovering on our website a project that caught his attention: a Chaos Legionnaires Kill Team painted in the colors of the Word Bearers. That work, with its dark atmosphere and careful visual narrative, was what ignited the spark.
His idea was clear: to assemble a complete Word Bearers army of this heretic legion, as if it had just come out of the bowels of the Eye of Terror. He asked us to make the whole ensemble convey antiquity, wear and tear, and above all, ritual power. He was not looking for just any shock force; he wanted a hellish procession charged with corrupted faith and sacred violence.
From the first contact he conveyed his vision: miniatures that looked like they had been fighting for centuries, with armor steeped in demonic magic and fresh blood. He also told us that the Defiler should be inspired by the model of the Dawn of War video game, with its characteristic menacing and mechanical profile. We were honored that he trusted our style to deliver such a powerful and personal vision.

From the word to the edge: the heresy walks
From the beginning, this project was planned as a constant, relentless march, just like the Word Bearers we were going to represent. After approving a first test miniature, we got down to work, working in phases and documenting each advance with photographs that we sent daily to the client.
We started with the assembly, taking care of poses and assemblies so that each miniature had its own presence. The painting started with the most numerous units, where we established the rhythm and coherence of the whole. Little by little we increased the intensity with the more complex figures: the Master of Possession, the Dark Apostle and, of course, the Defiler, which required special attention due to its link with the Dawn of War universe.
The basing was done in parallel, incorporating 3D effects and magic ash that was shaping the environment of this cursed army. The main characters received extra layers of work: textures, gradients, blood, arcane symbols.
