Chaos Knights Force
Color and paint schemes
This project took us to the heart of the most visceral Chaos. Three titans of steel and flesh: a Knight Rampager, a Knight Abominant, and a Wardog Karnivore.
In terms of painting, we worked at a Game level with hints of Ornate, reserving a Premium finish for the bases. Textured mud, metal debris, and skulls weren’t enough: on the Rampager, we added the remains of Necron Skulplithers.
The blood was a chapter unto itself. We started by applying it sparingly, but the client asked us for more drama. The final result features blades and saws bathed in red, with splatters that reinforce the ferocity of the army.

Customer briefing
Rampager, Abominant, and Karnivore: the apocalypse trio
He ordered three pieces: a Knight Rampager, a Knight Abominant, and a Wardog Karnivore. The Abominant had to be unique, so he requested conversions to include visible flesh mutations under the plates, which led us to work with 3D pieces and green putty.
For the other two Knights, the chosen scheme was a dirty, worn cream, covered in scratches and rust, with a corrupted relic look. On the Abominant, the palette was closer to blackened steel.
In addition, the client requested a considerable increase in blood effects, especially on the Rampager, to reinforce its brutal character.

Corrupted Earth and Spilled Blood: Premium Level Bases
The painting began with metallic base coats and desaturated cream, to which we added rust, dirt, and chipping filters. For the Abominant, we applied transitions to flesh tones, integrating skin and metal.
The process was interspersed with progress photos that we sent to the client on a daily basis. Thanks to this feedback, we adjusted the amount of blood: at first it was moderate, but after their request, we added more to weapons and skirts, with dripping and splattering effects.
The bases were worked on last, with textures of mud, scrap metal, and bones. On the Rampager’s base, we added pieces of Necron flayers, creating a scene of recent carnage. The final result was a cohesive and brutal ensemble, worthy of Chaos.
