Customer briefing

Magic, mutations, and lots of color

The briefing was based on an idea that was as specific as it was unusual: to create a large Thousand Sons force visually inspired by magic and the Legion of the Damned.
The initial proposal required some work before we found the right direction. We assembled a first miniature to test the conversion concept and then prepared a paint sample.
That’s when we settled on the army’s definitive aesthetic: white armor with blue stripes and gold trim, metallic blue for the armor of Daemon Princes and Tzaangors, and a very strong use of purple highlights.

A Legion Amid Violet Flames

From there, we finished the assembly and magnetization and began working on each unit individually. On such a large Premium project, this approach allowed us to focus on each group without losing sight of the common elements: whites, blues, golds, and, above all, the intensity and direction of the purple OSL effects.
Once the miniatures were finished, we turned our attention to the bases, extending the magical effects onto them to unify the entire army. We also magnetized them to ensure safer and more convenient transport.
The element that truly ties the whole ensemble together is magenta: we applied strong purple and pink highlights to the miniatures and bases, as if supernatural energy were rising from the terrain itself and bathing the armor from below.
