Brown Marines

    Brown Marines
    Color and paint schemes

We approached this project with a very special challenge: to create a custom chapter of Brown Marines 40K, with its own background that was evident in everything from the color to the condition of the armor.
The army consists of more than thirty miniatures, including illustrious characters such as Grimaldus and Iron Father Feirros, along with a large group of line troops: Intercessors, Heavy Intercessors, Incursors, Infiltrators, and Eliminators. All were crafted to an Ornate level, seeking a balance between spectacular display and battle coherence.

The client arrived with a clear idea: he wanted a custom chapter, divided into two color schemes. On one hand, a brown scheme symbolizing the cracked ceramic of the servo armor after endless campaigns. On the other, a black scheme, reserved for a special order within the same chapter. Both had to show extensive battle damage, chips, scratches, and, as a key detail,
In addition to painting, he asked us to assemble, magnetize, and create narrative bases. He insisted that the bases reflect different environments: snow and ice for the brown ones, and an industrial/space atmosphere for the black ones. This detailed briefing set the course for the project, with a grimdark aesthetic loaded with background.

The biggest challenge was the initial testing phase: we had to make three samples before we got the exact shade of brown that the client had in mind. In addition, changes arose during the process, as the initial briefing did not include all the details. We adapted by incorporating adjustments without breaking the overall consistency.
The Warhammer bases were worked on in parallel: snow with realistic textures, blue fungi modeled in 3D, and rusted fragments. Each base was treated as a small vignette. The magnetization ensured stability and durability.
Finally, special attention was given to the heroes. Feirros, Grimaldus, and the Librarian received an extra level of detail, with lighting effects on weapons and runes.
