Color and paint schemes
It has been an honor for us at Art-W Studio to dive into the cold lands of “A Song of Ice and Fire” to bring the sinister army of House Bolton to life. This project has been a true epic, full of challenges and excitement, and we are excited to share it with you.
Imagine, composing an army as iconic as that of the Boltons, with their imposing figures and aura of darkness. From the ruthless Roose Bolton to the fearsome Ramsay, we’ve brought each character and unit to life with an exceptional level of detail a true force to be reckoned with on the battlefield!
To capture the grim essence of House Bolton, we took inspiration from the official art of “A Song of Ice and Fire”. Dark armor, deep purple robes and pale skins that whisper of vampirism. Every detail has been meticulously applied to create stunning visual cohesion.
The miniature bases are set in a snowy mountainous countryside, evoking the cold and merciless North of Westeros. With no earth texture, we have opted for a layer of snow that contrasts with some straw-colored and yellowish undergrowth, adding realism and depth to the composition.
As for the process, each miniature has been carefully washed before receiving its paint scheme. We have assembled the figures and added 3D printed elements to highlight the unique details of the characters and units. The painting has been masterfully carried out, with a focus on the Ornate and detailed, while the bases have been decorated at game level, Ornate and premium.

A Song of Ice and Fire: The Bolton House Project
Every day has been a new adventure in the process of creating the House Bolton army. From the first wash of the miniatures to the final touches on the bases, we have worked with passion and dedication to ensure that every detail is perfectly executed.
We have taken inspiration from the official artwork of the saga to create an authentic color scheme true to the grim atmosphere of Westeros. Each figure has been meticulously hand-painted, and we have added differentiating details, such as layers of human skin and gold trim, to give each miniature a touch of authenticity and depth.
Throughout the process, we have maintained constant communication with our client, sending him daily progress photos so he can keep a close eye on the progress of his army. Each image is a testament to the hard work and dedication we have put into this project, and we are excited to share every moment with our client.
The House Bolton army comes to life with a level of detail and realism that will take everyone’s breath away, and we can’t wait to deliver it to our client so they can enjoy it in all its battlefield glory.
