In our recent project at Art-W Studio, we had the pleasure of working on the band “Khainite Shadowstalkers” for Warcry, an exciting task that we carried out with our highest level of detail and quality. This band is composed of elite assassins in the service of Morathi-Khaine, wrapped in a cloak of dark magic.
The color scheme selected for these miniatures was a challenge in itself: dark, desaturated tones ranging from black to a deep navy blue. The figures’ skin was painted in pale, lilac tones, creating a fascinating contrast to the vibrant magical effects of their weapons, which glow in a deep magenta.
For the environment of their bases, we chose to recreate a classic ruined battlefield, adding luminous cracks that simulate the effects of Khaine’s magic. For this, we used 3D bit prints of ruins, which allowed for an extraordinary level of detail on each base.
Each miniature was assembled with precision, including the magnetization of equipment options for one of them, ensuring versatility and detail. Painting was done to a premium level, ensuring that each figure not only met expectations, but exceeded them.
The Shroud Queen, being the most prominent character, received special treatment. The crystalline mask was painted with a heavily worked OSL effect, adding a shadowy and mystical touch that really captures the essence of the character. This attention to detail and dedication is what makes every project we do at Art-W Studio unique and special.

Magic and Mystery: The Art of Painting Khainite Shadowstalkers

Our client, a passionate Warcry player, came to us through a recommendation in an online modeling community. Fascinated by previous work we had done, he contacted us with a clear vision: he wanted us to paint his band of “Khainite Shadowstalkers” to the highest possible standard.
The brief specified a dark, desaturated color scheme, ranging from black to a dark navy blue, with pale lilac skins. In addition, he wanted the magical effects of the weapons and spells to be a vibrant magenta, to create a striking contrast.
He asked us to assemble the miniatures and for some to have magnetized equipment options. He also wanted us to decorate the miniatures’ bases with 3D printed elements, depicting a battlefield with classical ruins and glowing rifts. The Shroud Queen, being the most prominent character, had to have a very elaborate OSL (Object Source Lighting) effect on her crystalline mask.
The request was an exciting challenge, which allowed us not only to meet the client’s expectations, but also to exceed them, showing our skill and passion for painting miniatures at a premium level.

Khainite Shadowstalkers: Miniature Assassins

From the beginning of the “Khainite Shadowstalkers” band project, our team was immersed in a meticulous and exciting process. Mar, our expert painter, started assembling the miniatures and applying the first coats of paint, while sending daily progress photos to the client.
The first images showed the airbrushed bases: black canvases with lilac shadows and bluish highlights. The client, delighted with the progress, quickly approved the scheme. Next, we focused on the metallic details and pale lilac skins, using brush techniques to highlight each feature.
The next step was to apply magenta magic effects, creating a vibrant contrast that enhanced the darkness of the miniatures. The Shroud Queen, with her crystalline mask, received a very detailed OSL effect, becoming the center of attention of the band.
The bases, made from 3D printed bits, depicted a battlefield with luminous ruins and cracks. Daily photos not only documented our progress, but also allowed the client to actively participate in the process, ensuring that every detail met their expectations. In the end, we achieved a result that reflected our dedication and the client’s vision.
