Silver Imperial Knights

    Silver Imperial Knights
    Color and paint schemes

Working on an army of Imperial Knights is always a pleasure, but when the client asks us to capture the essence of the Grey Knights in these enormous machines, the challenge becomes irresistible. They had to maintain consistency with their previous collection while also standing out for their presence and dynamism.
At the studio, we took care of the assembly, magnetization, and premium painting, including conversions to give them a sense of advancement and power.
The scheme mixes light metallic tones with bluish reflections, bringing coldness and nobility, while the red and white shoulder pads act as visual accents.
We applied advanced wear and aging techniques: soft oxides, accumulated grease, chips, and pigments that simulate dry mud.

    Customer briefing

Between metal and rust: the march of the Imperial Knights

The client presented us with a very specific challenge: to transform three Imperial Knights into a natural extension of their Grey Knights. They wanted to preserve that solemn, metallic atmosphere.
The commission included assembly, magnetization, pose conversion, and premium painting, all under a cold metallic scheme with blue reflections and distinctive red and white shoulder pads.
Their priority was clear: consistency, movement, and personality. They asked us to make each Knight convey a story, from the burnished steel to the mud on the pistons.

General picture of the project Premium

The challenge of light metal: painting Imperial Knights

The project began with the creation of a color sample, focusing on metal plates and complementary tones. Once approved by the client, we moved on to reworking the miniatures. We magnetized all possible weapon options, ensuring flexibility in gameplay.
We divided the work among several people: while one member of the team took care of all the internal mechanics and chassis, another focused on the blue metal plates, and a third worked on the red and white areas.
The Premium bases were tackled last, seeking uniformity among the three titans. We applied weathering with pigments, rust washes, and micro-chipping.
