A Start Collecting box of Chaos servitors and a sorcerer that we have been responsible for assembling the minis, painting and decorating the bases. The scheme is based on the box art, but with our style and with a darker touch.
The levels we were commissioned for are Game and Ornate for both the painting and the bases, he wanted a swamp / bog type basing for the project.
To achieve this darker style we emphasised the use of a desaturated palette, with lots of neutral tones and then contrasted it with a good dose of gore by adding fresh blood in various splashes across the models.

Customer briefing
I want some spooky looking minis
I’ve been wanting to start a Slave to Darkness army for a while now, I’ve seen your work and I think your dark aesthetic would fit perfectly with the scheme I have in mind.
I would like to keep the original scheme but when seen on the table they feel like the real bad guys, as GW makes them too shiny.

Group framing of the project, painted entirely at Ornate level
Daily monitoring of the project, Bad boys r coming
We started by creating a colour palette and making a sample mini to validate the scheme.
We were evaluating different options of bases to see which one fitted better with the client’s idea, once that was chosen and the scheme was approved we started the brushes.

The process was smooth and there was a constant flow of communication. The team kept me updated on the progress and were open to incorporating my feedback and making adjustments as necessary. I am extremely satisfied with the final product.
