Ultramarines Orks
Color and paint schemes
Imagine a group of orks that, for some strange reason, have decided that the Ultramarines are a model to follow… or at least when it comes to their armor. Thus was born this army, a commission in which we combined the chaotic and brutal essence of the greenskins with an aesthetic inspired by the iconic sons of Guilliman. Deep blue on the armor plates, meticulously painted black and white checkering, and just the right amount of wear and tear to make them look weathered from a thousand battles.
The commission included an impressive force, each miniature has been worked on our Vistoso level, with detailed bases with Epic Basing bits to represent a desert terrain, arid and dusty, ideal to reinforce the ambience of the set.
The technique has been key in this project. Airbrushing has been our best ally to achieve smooth transitions and a clean finish on the armor, while chipping and dust effects have added realism to the scene. The checkering, a visually striking element, has required patience and precision, especially on the Dakkajet, where it occupies a large surface area. This Waaagh! is a tabletop spectacle, a perfect blend of brutality and style that breaks with convention.

Customer briefing
Ork Ultramarines: The Paradox of a Single Army
Sometimes the most interesting projects come in the most unexpected way. This client discovered us through recommendations from other players and, after reviewing our work, he knew we were the right people to carry out his idea. His request was clear but out of the ordinary: an ork army that paid a strange tribute to the Ultramarines, with deep blue armor and a checkered pattern in black and white.
He gave us total freedom in the assembly and composition of the Ultramarines Orks army, trusting our judgment to create a balanced and visually stunning list. In addition, he wanted the miniatures to convey realism: the metal should show signs of battle with moderate chipping, and the boots and limbs should reflect the dust of a desert environment.
Right from the start, we were excited about the challenge. It’s not every day you get the chance to paint a Waaagh! with such a combination of styles, and we were sure that the end result would be spectacular.

Orks, Blue and Destruction: The Road to a One Army
The process of creating this Ultramarines Orks army was intense, but extremely rewarding. From the beginning, we knew that airbrushing was going to be our best tool to achieve the vibrant Ultramarine blue that the client wanted on the armor. We worked layer by layer to achieve a clean, even finish before moving on to the most challenging part: the black and white checkering.
This pattern, present on several miniatures but particularly complex on the Dakkajet, required pinpoint accuracy and many hours of work. Meanwhile, wear details, such as chipping on armor and dust accumulation on feet and boots, began to give that battle look we were after.
Throughout the process, we sent previews to the client, showing each stage of the work. It was great to see their enthusiasm grow with each update. The bases, set in a desert environment with Epic Basing bits, finished giving cohesion to the army. Finally, each miniature looked imposing, brutal and with an unmistakable style. The last challenge was the cohesion of the bases, making both armies share the same visual environment. The final result is a harmonious and full of character set, ready for battle.
