40K Starter Box
Color and paint schemes
Each army has its own identity, but when two such disparate forces share the same battlefield, it’s crucial to find a way to unify them visually. In this project, we’ve met that challenge with a Warhammer 40K starter box, painting the unyielding Ultramarines and the ravenous Leviathan Fleet with a detailed and meticulous approach.
The set of miniatures is varied and full of character. Our work has been not only the painting in different levels: Premium, Ornate and Game but also the assembly and creation of matching bases, elevating the presence of each miniature on the table.
The Ultramarines have received their iconic blue, but with a more muted and realistic palette, with subtle transitions and wear and tear that makes them look battle-hardened. The Tyranids, meanwhile, retain the classic Leviathan Fleet scheme, but with a more organic interpretation, giving their shells and skin a fluid and natural feel.
The most interesting challenge came with the bases: the imperial units march over urban ruins, while the xenos advance over a drier and more arid terrain. To create visual cohesion, we added desert sand elements to the urban bases, making both armies seem to share the same war scenario, despite their differences.

Customer briefing
Between the Light of the Emperor and the Night of the Xenos: The Art of Battle
From the very first contact, the client showed an infectious enthusiasm and a very clear vision of what he wanted for his Warhammer 40K starter box. He contacted us explaining that he wanted a comprehensive service: the painting of two small forces, consisting of the iconic Ultramarines and the imposing Leviathan Fleet. He detailed that the assignment should respect the official Games Workshop scheme, but with a subtle grimdark touch that would bring more aggressiveness and personality to each unit.
The client asked us to work in different levels of detail, adjusting the painting according to the category of each miniature, whether Premium, Ornate or Game. In addition, he asked for the assembly and creation of bases to be carried out at an equally demanding level, seeking that each element, from the figures to the scenery, would dialogue in a harmonious way. The idea was to convey this duality between the unmistakable tradition of the 40K universe and a dark reinterpretation that would bring character. From the first message, our passion for modeling and the narrative of the game was aligned with their expectations, allowing us to take on this challenge with total commitment and creativity.

Creatures of the Void and Warriors of the Light: A Unique Project
From the beginning, we set out to make this project reflect both fidelity to the Warhammer 40K universe and our personal touch in every detail. After defining the paint schemes and levels, the first step was the meticulous assembly of each miniature, ensuring that all the pieces fit perfectly and preparing the surface for the paint job.
To establish a benchmark, we painted a test miniature of each faction and sent it to the client to confirm that the style and finish were appropriate. Once approved, we began the painting process in phases, starting with the Ultramarines. We applied their characteristic blue with a more muted and worn hue, highlighting contrasts and textures for a more realistic and grimdark look.
Next, we moved on to the tyranids of the Leviathan Fleet, working on their shells and skin with smooth transitions and a more naturalistic effect. As we progressed, we sent daily images to the client, showing the progress of each unit and adjusting small details according to their feedback.
The last challenge was the cohesion of the bases, making both armies share the same visual environment. The final result is a harmonious and full of character set, ready for battle.
