Raptors Phobos Strike Team
Color and paint schemes
In our latest assignment at Art-W Studio, we immersed ourselves in the creation of a Phobos Assault Kill Team with a tactical and urban approach, adapted to the essence of the Raptors, the recognized successor chapter of the Raven Guard. This team, composed of ten Phobos Marines and an Eliminator, has become a work that reflects the military and secretive nature of the Raptors Phobos Strike Team.
For this project, all the Marines were painted with a military green color scheme, achieving an austere and sober look that fits perfectly with their strategic style. As for the details, we kept a uniformity in the color of the armor, only breaking the scheme in the Eliminator, who wears a special infiltration cape, and in the medic, who wears a white shoulder pad as a badge.
We find a very urban environment, for which we use bases designed in 3D resin with fragments of destroyed structures, rubble and ruined reinforced concrete. These 3D elements bring realism and emphasize the brutality of the context in which the team moves, representing urban ruins where combat and strategy are a daily part of their mission.
Each miniature received an ornate level of painting, paying special attention to the details of wear and textures, which allows the military green scheme to come to life without losing its tactical discretion. This project, carried out from start to finish by a single painter, stands out for its speed and precision, the result of a layered painting process, detailed on the leathers, armor and weapons.

Customer briefing
Raptors Reborn: A Journey of Color and Strategy
It all started when the client, a Raptors background enthusiast, came to Art-W Studio looking for a painting service that would capture the essence of this chapter in a Kill Team Phobos. He contacted us with a very clear concept: he wanted the project to reflect the Raptors’ philosophy, with a military green color scheme that would highlight the discreet and tactical nature of his Marines.
From the outset, the brief was detailed. The client requested that all the miniatures maintain a sober and compact scheme, avoiding any color that would break the visual unity. In addition, he asked for the Eliminator to have an infiltration cloak, typical of his role in the team, and for the medic to wear a white shoulder pad to stand out.
He also asked for an urban setting for the bases, with a touch of destruction: ruins and rubble printed in 3D resin, as if the Raptors were in the middle of a combat zone. With this vision, we had the guidelines to embark on a project that would give his Kill Team all the visual and tactical strength he requested.

Shades of Green: Strategy in Every Brushstroke
The process of creating this Raptors Kill Team was agile and very satisfactory, and each stage was shared with the client through photographic previews. Upon receiving the assembled miniatures, the first thing we did was a detailed check to ensure a perfect base, eliminating burrs and caulking any visible joints. Then, we moved on to the black primer and painting of the sample miniature, which helped us define the exact shade of military green we were looking for.
With the client’s approval in hand, we applied the green scheme to the rest of the equipment, using airbrushing for the armor bases and sponging to simulate combat wear, a technique that added realism and depth. In the following photos, the client could see how each figure took shape, from the metal bases and leathers to the details and shadows applied with oil.
Finally, we 3D printed in resin elements of urban ruins that completed the bases. Every detail, from the rubble to the final armor touch-up, was part of a process that conveyed the brutality and tactical style of the Raptors in every image submitted.

The whole process has been an absolute pleasure. What really stands out to me is the communication with the Art-W team.
