Space Wolves Squadron
Color and paint schemes
For this project, we created a Space Wolves army for Warhammer 40k with a very distinct identity: a force inspired by the 13th Company from the Horus Heresy and Fletcher’s scheme from Tabletop Tactics.
The project included assembly, 3D elements, base building, and full premium-level painting. The bases were set in a classic snowy Fenris landscape, featuring dark rock, snowdrifts, and dry vegetation.
In terms of painting, we focused heavily on the volumetry of the gray armor, applying highlights with a brush after an initial airbrush base coat. We also used oil paints to unify the overall look and add depth.

Customer briefing
Under the Ice Storm: Space Wolves in gray and red
The client wasn’t looking for the typical blue of modern Space Wolves, but rather a much grayer, more subdued, and weathered look, with red used as a bold accent on details, weapons, accessories, and lighting effects.
The priority was to maintain a consistent aesthetic throughout the army, but without the miniatures losing their individual character. That’s why we introduced subtle variations in elite elements, particularly shields, furs, metals, and ritual details.
We were also asked to execute the project at the Premium level, including assembly, 3D parts, snow-covered bases, and full painting.

Wolves in the Blizzard: An Army of Space Wolves
We began by carefully organizing the army into distinct groups: characters, line units, elites, and wolves. Since the color scheme relied heavily on the consistency of the gray tones,
we didn’t want a flat gray, so we adjusted the color temperature with inks and gradually introduced cool undertones, muted metals, and very subtle reds in weapons, lenses, and OSL effects.
In a Space Wolves army, the furs, runes, shields, pendants, and weapons can clash with one another, so we balanced each unit throughout the process.
